Community Garden at St. Paul’s in Gardner MA Now has 27 Beds

Originally established 2 years ago with a $3000 grant from the Diocese, the Community Garden located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Cross Street in Gardner almost doubled its capacity in 2023 and now has more than 2 dozen beds. Mayor Michael Nicholson posted on April 28th,”Big shout out to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Gardner MA for starting up their community gardens again this year to support the Gardner CAC! They are adding even more raised beds to bring the total to 27! Thanks for all you do for the City and it’s residents! “. Fresh produce grown on the property is distributed to area families by the CAC.

The sign states “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” – Matthew 25:35. Distribution of food grown will occur through the Food Pantry of the Community Action Committee. The CAC serves disadvantaged individuals in Gardner, Ashburnham, Baldwinville, Hubbardston, Otter River, Templeton, and Westminster. Gardner CAC website, CLICK HERE. To donate to the CAC securely click here. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church website, CLICK HERE.

According to the Church, “”Many faces, one faith. We are a diverse group of believers – bankers, musicians, social workers, teachers, public servants, business owners, parents  – united by our shared faith in a loving God.” Sunday services are at 10am

NBC10 Boston has reached out to National Grid but has not heard back yet.

  • Sexual assault reported in Cambridge, police investigating
by Kaitlin McKinley Becker on May 18, 2024 at 3:06 pm

An alleged sexual assault that happened Friday night in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is under investigation. Cambridge police say officers responded to the Cambridgepark Drive area around 9:18 p.m. for a report of an assault in progress. The victim told officers that the assailant was a masked man with a knife. Detectives are processing a crime scene that is in a restroom of a commercial building, police say, and they are working with Massachusetts State Police to identify and locate a suspect in the case. Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673, and Massachusetts provides this list of statewide and resources for sexual assault survivors. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambridge’s criminal investigations unit at 617-349-9151, or online at cambridgepolice.org/TIPS. Police are also reminding residents to call 911 immediately if they ever feel threatened or see any suspicious activity.

  • Mild temperatures and scattered showers in New England
by David Bagley on May 18, 2024 at 12:07 pm

An onshore flow out of the northeast will keep us unsettled this afternoon, right through tonight, and into the day Sunday.  The best chance for showers will be along the coast during that time period, but a few may sneak inland, especially today and tonight. Showers will be scattered in nature, so there will be some dry periods in between, but keep an umbrella handy throughout the day, about .10 to .20” of rain expected.  Highs along the coast reach the mid to upper 50s, 60s inland, few 70s across northern Maine and western portions of New England. More of the same overnight tonight with scattered showers and sprinkles, a few areas of patchy fog.  Lows drop into the low to mid 50s for most, bit cooler across some of the inland valleys north and west. A few stubborn showers and sprinkles around Sunday morning with glimpses of sunshine by Sunday afternoon, especially inland. Still can’t rule out a stray afternoon shower or sprinkle along the coast, but most should stay on the dry side.  Highs in the upper 50s coast, 60s inland. We turn the corner Monday with a ridge of high pressure building south of the region allowing for a dry & warmer southerly air flow to kick in and help nudge temperatures close to 70.  Even warmer temperatures are on tap for Tuesday with Boston possibly seeing their first 80 degree day of the year!  Temps remain in the 80s through Thursday with the next shot for showers and storms arriving late in the day Thursday. Slightly cooler temps, in the 70s, are expected thereafterinto Memorial Day Weekend which is featured in our Exclusive 10-Day Forecast! Have a great day!
