  • ‘Imagine Van Gogh' immersive experience returning to Boston
    on April 18, 2024 at 3:34 pm

A popular immersive Van Gogh painting exhibit is returning to Boston this summer. “Imagine Van Gogh” lets fans of the legendary painter walk through more than 200 of his works at the SoWa Power Station by projecting them on the walls while classical music plays in the South End events space. The show previously ran at the same location for three months in the winter of 2021. It was one of two immersive Van Gogh shows that visited Boston at the time, along with “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.” Tickets for the show’s return, beginning June 21, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at imaginevangogh.com. Ticket prices weren’t immediately available. by Boston Restaurant Talk on April 18, 2024 at 11:41 am

[This story first appeared on Boston Restaurant Talk.] A new Greek eatery is on its way to Somerville, and it will take over the space where an Italian seafood restaurant had been. According to a source, Eat Greek Gyros is planning to open in Davis Square, moving into the former Out of the Blue space on Elm Street. A menu seen for the upcoming spot shows such options as gyros, souvlaki, octopus, halloumi, rice bowls, fries, and a variety of salads, along with beer, wine, and cocktails. No opening date has been given as of yet, so stay tuned for updates as they come in. Out of the Blue closed down earlier this year after being in business for nearly 25 years. The address for the upcoming Eat Greek Gyros is 215 Elm Street, Somerville, MA, 02144. • Victim in Mass. suspicious death investigation IDed as Conn. man
    on April 18, 2024 at 11:22 am

Authorities have identified the man whose death in Framingham, Massachusetts, has been under investigation as suspicious for over a week. But investigators have not yet said what they believe led to the death of Brooks Hood, a 27-year-old from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The cause and manner of Hood’s death on Wednesday, April 10, has not yet been determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Chief of Police Lester Baker said Thusrday. State and local police were still investigating what led to Hood’s death. Authorities have previously said they responded to a home on Fenwick Street at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, after receiving an anonymous 911 call. When they arrived, they found a man dead inside the home with apparent trauma to his body. A search warrant was later executed at the residence, but the district attorney’s office didn’t say what, if anything, was found. Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker has said in a video posted to the department’s Facebook page that there is “no reason to believe there is any danger to the public.” He added that his department is “working tirelessly to bring the investigation to a close.” Neighbors have said there had been suspicious activity at the property for months. They said squatters had been living in the home, and neighbors had taken it upon themselves to try and have the people evicted. “There’s an uptick in strangers walking around and you hate to get to the place where everybody is now a suspect,” Larry Swanson said. The state medical examiner’s office was expected to conduct an autopsy on Thursday to make a positive identification and determine the cause of death. Still, Swanson called the fact there was a death investigation there “stunning to say the least.” More Framingham news Framingham 19 hours ago Two people critically injured in Framingham crash Framingham Apr 11 Authorities investigating suspicious death in Framingham

  • Brace yourself, Boston – the median price for a single-family home is approaching $1 million
by Maureen Dahill on April 18, 2024 at 11:12 am

It looks like the price of homes, in particular, single families, is on the rise in Greater Boston.  According to the Greater Boston Association of Realtors, the median price is $910,000, which is more than a 9% increase over the same month last year, setting a new March record. So, if you thought housing prices would level off or go down, you’re sadly mistaken. With March typically the beginning of the spring upswing in the housing market, we may be in for another summer of record-breaking home prices.  Good news for homeowners – not great news for homebuyers. So why the rise in prices? Basically, it’s a perfect storm of not enough inventory and higher mortgage rates. The Boston Globe reports that the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 6.88 percent last week, still more than double the rate two years ago. The post Brace Yourself, Boston – the Median Price for a Single-Family Home is $910,000 appeared first on Caught In Southie.
